<p>The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method to generate an image. The image generating apparatus includes: a depth map generating unit which generates a depth map of an original image; a depth histogram generating unit which calculates a histogram of the depth map; a minimum/maximum depth calculating unit which calculates the maximum and/or minimum depth of the depth map based on the result of a comparison by comparing a frequency of the histogram of the depth map with a preset threshold value; a normalized curve mapping unit which adjusts a maximum depth into an upper limit value if the maximum depth is greater than the predetermined upper limit value in the histogram and generates a limited depth map by adjusting upper depth greater than a predetermined convergence and smaller than the maximum depth as much as an adjustment rate of the maximum depth; and an image generating unit which generates data of a new image having a pixel interval compared with the original image as much as a depth defined in the limited depth map by receiving an input of the limited depth map and the original image.</p> |
