<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact air core cyclotron which allows for acceleration of a heavy particle until it has the energy available for cancer therapy and the like, at a low installation cost and operation cost, and also allows for flexible and stable operation.SOLUTION: A coil system 1 of an air core cyclotron includes sector coil units 4, 4, ... having a plurality of sector coils 41a-41c formed by winding a superconducting conductor around an air-core, and forming one or a plurality of hill magnetic fields.
