The present invention relates to a battery having a battery case with a groove on an outer surface. The battery cell comprises: an electrode assembly including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separation film interposed between the positive and negative electrodes; a rectangular battery case wherein the electrode assembly is embedded and the upper end is opened; and a cap plate coupled to the opened upper end of the battery case, wherein electrode terminals are formed. The battery case includes a pair of long side parts to face each other and a pair of short side parts to face each other. The electrode has at least one linear groove which is formed on at least one of the long side parts to prevent the deformation of the battery case.
