PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate gradient without using an inclination sensor.SOLUTION: A gradient calculation device 1 comprises: a tread force detection part 2; a rotation speed detection part 3; a speed detection part 4; a storage part 51; and a control part 5. The control part 5 calculates first energy based on torque detected by the tread force detection part 2 and cadence detected by the rotation speed detection part 3. The control part 5 calculates second energy based on travel speed detected by the speed detection part 4, and total weight of a cycle and a person who rides on the cycle stored in the storage part 51. In addition, the control part 5 calculates gradient based on the first energy and the second energy. |
