<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve gear for an internal combustion engine, capable of suppressing a reduction in the voltage of a power supply right after starting a change in the maximum lift amount of an engine valve.SOLUTION: The variable valve gear is applied for the internal combustion engine having two banks. Each of the banks is provided with a change device which includes a control shaft for determining the maximum lift amount of the engine valve through a change in the movement position in the axial direction, a cam for changing the movement position, a roller provided on the control shaft in the state of being pressed against the cam surface of the cam, and a motor for changing the rotation phase of the cam. On each of the cam surfaces of the cams 135L, 135R of the respective banks, a first change region is provided where the diameter of the cam becomes gradually larger as the rotation phase is changed in one direction. The cam profile of the cam 135L of one bank in a range from a minimum phase (a second rotation phase R2) of the first change region to an intermediate phase RME between the minimum phase and a maximum phase (a third rotation phase R3) is different from that of the cam 135R of the other bank.</p> |
