The graph generator (220) is configured to identify primary points (234) and secondary points (236) based on the first graph (226). The graph generator (220) is further configured to form a second graph (238) using the primary points (234), the secondary points (236), and the first graph (226). The model generator (224) is configured to generate a two-dimensional model (212) comprised of triangular sectors (213) using vertices (252) of the second graph (238). The two-dimensional model (212) is configured for use in forming a mesh (214) for use in performing finite element analysis (216) for the joint (201).
