PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damage detection method and a wind turbine capable of eliminating the influence of operating conditions such as a change in wind velocity in the detection of the damage to a wind turbine blade using strain data indicating the strain of each wind turbine.SOLUTION: A wind turbine blade damage detection method for a wind turbine rotor 6 that includes a plurality of wind turbine blades 2, comprises: a strain-data acquisition step of acquiring strain data indicating a strain of each of the wind turbine blades 2; a difference calculation step of calculating a difference between the strain data on one detection target wind turbine blade 2 out of the plural wind turbine blades and a reference value reflecting the strain data on one or more comparison target wind turbine blades 2 out of the remaining wind turbine blades 2; and a detection step of detecting damage to the detection target wind turbine blade 2 on the basis of a temporal change in the difference calculated in the difference calculation step. |
