[Class 91] A material particularly suitable for cleaning delicate painted varnished or japanned surfaces, linoleums and parquet flooring is prepared by the partial hydrolysis of glue or gelatin to such an extent that the acid products formed from 100 grams of the dry glue or gelatin will neutralise 0.25 to 2 grams of potassium hydroxide. The product may if desired be evaporated to dryness. Examples of the preparation of the cleaning material using as starting material common glue are given.
