<p>A McKibben-type hydraulic actuator 1 is provided. The hydraulic actuator 1 comprises a tubular bladder 2 having first and second ends 3, 4; an expandable and collapsible over-braided sleeve 8 provided on the tubular bladder 2; a fluid inlet fitting 16 provided in fluid communication with the tubular bladder 2; and at least one mechanical connection 12, 13 provided along the tubular bladder 2. The hydraulic actuator 1 may have flexibility and an overall diameter of less than about 5mm. A method of fabricating such a hydraulic actuator is also disclosed.</p> |
