The device has a base portion (1) which is associated with an extruder (2) for plasticization of the plastic melt. A pump (3) is provided for conveying the plastic melt through a channel (4) to a measuring cell (5). The conveyance direction of the pump is set reversible, so as to relief pressure in the channel and measuring cell. An independent claim is included for method for testing the purity and rheological properties of plastic melt.
