The present invention relates to a process for driving a tailgate according to motion direction recognition, which comprises the steps of: performing certification on a smart key by a smart key control unit; detecting reference motion through each detection data of a first and a second sensor when the certification on a smart key is completed; and operating a tailgate in case the reference motion is detected. According to the present invention, the tailgate is opened and closed only in case predetermined motion is detected through a plurality of sensors. Thus, security is reinforced.
