The present invention relates to an oil pump driving device for a plug-in hybrid vehicle and a phase current limitation method. The device comprises: a power supply unit receiving power supplied from a high voltage battery and a battery and supplying the power to an oil pump motor; a motor driving means switching the power to drive the motor; a control unit controlling the motor driving means based on a control signal received from a main control unit of a vehicle to output the PWM control signal; and a phase current limitation unit limiting a phase current with a preset current when an overcurrent occurs in each phase switching electrode provided to the motor driving means. Therefore, the device senses the phase current applied to each switching electrode provided to the motor driving unit and rapidly limits the phase current when the sensed phase current exceeds the preset current to prevent the switching electrode from being damaged or malfunctioning due to the overcurrent.
