PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a communication system capable of reducing a network bandwidth for use when estimating a transmission rate.SOLUTION: A data reception terminal 20 periodically transmits to a data transmission terminal 10 a notification message including information of a data reception amount, a lapse time from the transmission of a previous notification message to the reception of a response message, and the transmission time of the notification message of the current time. Based on notification message information and information acquired before the determination processing of a maximum transmission rate estimation value of the previous time, the data transmission terminal 10 decides whether a network has transferred the transmitted data without a loss, and based on the decision result, determines a maximum transmission rate estimation value during a period before receiving the notification message next, so as to control the transmission rate of a data to be transmitted to the data reception terminal 20 according to the determined maximum transmission rate estimation value. The data transmission terminal 10 also transmits to the data reception terminal 20 a response message to the notification message. |
