<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lateral structure of a vehicle body which can secure the rigidity (strength) of a pillar in a state of arranging a harness in the pillar and can secure a driver's view. <P>SOLUTION: The lateral structure of the vehicle body includes a sub-pillar which configures a vertical side of a window frame. The sub-pillar comprises a pillar frame body 82 which has a first closed cross section 81, a front overlap flange 83, and a rear interior member 71. A second closed cross section 88 in which the harness 90 can be arranged is arranged between the rear interior member and a sub-pillar inner 33 in parallel with the first closed cross section in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle body. Additionally, a length dimension L1 of the front overlap flange in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle body is set longer than a longitudinal dimension L2 of the harness in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle body.
