Apparatus (2) for obtaining portions from a foodstuff which is able to be softened by heat, which apparatus (2) comprises: (i) a handle (4); (ii) a formation (6) for engaging the foodstuff and obtaining the portions; (iii) heating means (8) for heating the formation (6) to a temperature at which the formation (6) is able to soften the foodstuff; and (iv) circuit means (10) for enabling the heating means (8) to be powered by battery (12) and/or mains electricity, and the apparatus (2) being such that: (v) the heating means (8) is a resistance heating means; (vi) the heating means (8) is positioned only along at least a part of a periphery of the formation (6) whereby the foodstuff is able to be softened adjacent the periphery; and (vii) the heating means (8) is electrically insulated from the formation (6). |
