In addition, a subset of precoding matrices is determined from the set of precoding matrices with a second throughput greater than a fraction of the first throughput based on the reference signal. Furthermore, a precoding matrix is selected from the subset of precoding matrices based on a metric. |

1. A method of wireless communication, comprising:
determining, based on a reference signal, a first precoding matrix from a set of precoding matrices, the first precoding matrix having a first single-user multiple input multiple output (SU-MIMO) throughput that comprises a combined throughput for a plurality of subcarriers; determining, from the set of precoding matrices, a subset of precoding matrices each having a second SU-MIMO throughput that is greater than a fraction of the first SU-MIMO throughput, wherein the second SU-MIMO throughput comprises a combined throughput for the plurality of subcarriers, and wherein the fraction comprises a ratio of the first SU-MIMO throughput to the second SU-MIMO throughput; and selecting, from the subset of precoding matrices, a second precoding matrix for a multiple user multiple input multiple output (MU-MIMO) transmission based on a metric associated with a throughput variance across the plurality of subcarriers, wherein the metric includes a measure of an inaccuracy of quantizing a channel direction information determined using the second precoding matrix. |
