The present invention provides antibodies which bind to an epitope in the extracellular domain of human CC chemokine receptor 4 (CCR4) and which are capable of inhibiting the binding of macrophage-derived chemokine (MDC) and/or thymus and activation regulated chemokine (TARC) to CCR4. Also provided are inter alia immunoconjugates and compositions comprising such antibodies and methods and uses involving such antibodies, particularly in the medical and diagnostic fields.

A human antibody which binds to an epitope in the extracellular domain of human CC chemokine receptor 4 (CCR4) and which is capable of inhibiting the binding of macrophage-derived chemokine (MDC) and/or thymus and activation regulated chemokine (TARC) to CCR4, wherein said human antibody comprises
(i) VH CDR1 of X1YAX2S (SEQ ID NO: 126), wherein X1 is S or N, and X2 is I or M; (ii) VH CDR2 of X1IX2PX3X4GX5X6NYAQKFQG (SEQ ID NO: 128), wherein X1 is G or A, X2 is I or S, X3 is I or S, X4 is F or G, X5 is T or S and X6 is A or T; (iii) VH CDR3 of SEQ ID NO: 9; (iv) VL CDR1 of SGX1X2SNIGX3X4X5VX6 (SEQ ID NO: 130), wherein X1 is S or G, X2 is T or G, X3 is S or R, X4 is R or H, X5 is Y or F and X6 is Y or F; (v) VL CDR2 of RNXQRPS (SEQ ID NO: 132), wherein X is H or N; and (vi) VL CDR3 of AX1WDDX2LSGWV (SEQ ID NO: 138), wherein X1 is A or V and X2 is S or T.
