<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for supporting communication capable of establishing communication between a sign language user and an oral speaker with burdens on the sign language user reduced.SOLUTION: After sign language motions made by a sign language user are recorded in a video recorder 11 operated by an oral speaker, a calculation server 30 recognizes the sign language on the basis of a moving image in which the sign language motions are recorded, and converts the recognized sign language into oral language. A message converted into oral language is outputted in such a way as to be aurally recognizable by the oral speaker via headphones 12 or displayed on a screen 14 in letters visually recognizable by the oral speaker. The calculation server 30 recognizes oral language on the basis of speech sound produced by the oral speaker and converts the recognized oral language into sign language. The sign language motions representing the message converted into sign language are displayed on a screen 40 for sign language users as a moving image visually recognizable by the sign language user.</p> |
