<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device and a copying machine that can execute a reading operation matched with a situation.SOLUTION: An image reading device has a manuscript tray 11 on which manuscripts are mounted, a manuscript feeding unit for successively feeding manuscripts mounted on the manuscript tray 11 one by one to a reading position, two set sensors 119 which detect the tip in a feeding direction of a manuscript when a manuscript mounted on the manuscript tray 11 is mounted at a mount position suitable for manuscript feeding and installed at two places in a width direction intersecting to the feeding direction, and a manuscript reading unit for reading an image on the manuscript passing over the reading position to generate an image signal. An operation sequence is set to respond to be matched with ON/OFF of the two set sensors 119.</p> |
