<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glow plug which reduces power consumption in a heating coil, and has the heating coil which is hardly fused, and an internal combustion engine having the glow plug.SOLUTION: A glow plug 2 comprises a cylindrical sheath tube 21, a heating coil 11 which is disposed in the sheath tube, and composed of a wire rod RE having single material quality, and a heater member 10 having insulation powder 28 in the sheath tube. The heating coil 11 is the same in winding directions as a whole, and formed up to a position in which a distance L measured from a tip of the heater member 10 up to a rear end side XK in an axial line direction satisfies L=4.0 to 8.0 mm. The heating coil includes a coil tip part 12 having a first pitch P1, a coil rear end part 13 which is located at the rear end side in the axial line direction rather than the coil tip part 12, and has a second pitch P2 which is larger than the first pitch P1, and a pitch transition part 14 which is interposed between the coil tip part 12 and the coil rear end part 13, and has a third pitch P3 which is larger than the first pitch P1, and smaller than the second pitch P2.</p> |
