PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of easily performing imaging control that regards important the advance or retreat of a plurality of moving subjects in sports or competitions including a footrace.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus includes: an imaging part 12 which receives an optical image formed by an imaging optical system 32 and acquires image data; a positional change prediction part 11e which detects positional changes of a plurality of subjects obtained by the imaging part and predicts positions of the plurality of subjects after the lapse of a predetermined time; and a control part 11 which performs imaging control in accordance with a depth of field in such a manner that the plurality of subjects within the image can be focused in accordance with the positional information of the plurality of subjects after the lapse of the predetermined time predicted by the positional change prediction part and a focal distance of the imaging optical system.
