PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator device capable of safely achieving adjustment of the weight of a counterweight with high reliability at low cost, and surely detecting and coping with abnormal operation of movable parts.SOLUTION: An elevator device comprises an elevator car and a counterweight which are connected with each other by a rope in a hoistway, and which are lifted/lowered mutually by a hoist around which the rope is wound. The elevator device includes a sub weight holding unit which can hold a sub weight for changing the weight of the counterweight, which is installed in a vertically movable manner above the counterweight, and which can supply and recover the sub weight to and from a loading part on the counterweight. The sub weight holding unit is moved in a vertical direction between a predetermined standby position and a transfer position to the loading part by a vertical mechanism. Position detection means is provided between the sub weight holding unit and the side of the hoistway, and detects whether the sub weight holding unit stops at the predetermined standby position and at the transfer position. |
