PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of easily starting a plurality of outdoor units during power failure and capable of supplying generated power to each load.SOLUTION: An air conditioner includes a plurality of outdoor units 2A-2D, arranged in parallel, having a gas engine 10 for driving a compressor 12 of a refrigeration cycle and a power generator 11 connected to the gas engine 10. One outdoor unit 2A serves as a master unit in which a battery 49 is mounted, and the remaining outdoor units 2B-2D in which no battery is mounted serve as slave units. It includes an independent control unit 39a which starts the gas engine 10 of the outdoor unit 2A with the battery 49 and starts each gas engine 10 of the outdoor units 2B-2D by power generated by the power generator 11. A power line during an independent operation is integrated into one system and connected to indoor units 13a-13d and an illumination device 38.
