<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a final weft yarn from slipping through a pair of selvage yarns and being loosened during a blank-beating step in a blank-beating start, thereby preventing a weaving defect from being caused in a woven fabric in such a loom that: there is provided therein an electrically driven selvage device which, while rotating a pair of yarn guides with the pair of selvage yarns inserted therethrough around a rotation axis and thereby twisting the pair of selvage yarns together, gives shedding motion to the pair of selvage yarns to form a leno selvage at the selvage of the woven fabric, and in which the pair of yarn guides are rotationally driven by a dedicated drive motor during weaving in synchronization with the main shaft of the loom in a preset drive mode; and the blank-beating start is performed.SOLUTION: In a loom, prior to a start, a pair of yarn guides are rotationally driven in a drive mode different from a drive mode which is in synchronization with a main shaft during weaving. At a cloth fell, twists are applied to a pair of selvage yarns in a number larger than that of twists according to the rotation of the main shaft.</p> |
