PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brushless DC motor system capable of operating in a severe radiation environment while suppressing weight and volume to a minimum.SOLUTION: A sensorless motor controller includes a variable link control containing a radiation hardening field programmable gate array (FPGA) and a counter electro-motive (EMF) decoder circuit. The counter EMF estimates a position of a rotor of a motor. A filter on the decoder conditions a counter EMF signal and has a plurality of cut-off frequencies that may be dynamically controlled with the FPGA for compensating a phase shift in the counter EMF signal. The FPGA also controls a variable DC link and a digital speed control loop of the same.
