PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screening method of an antibiotic production-related gene which enables exploration of antibiotics produced by soil microorganisms and the like which are difficult to culture.SOLUTION: The method comprises adding a substance for activating the production of an antibiotic by microorganisms into an environmental sample in which microorganisms inhabit; subsequently extracting RNA from the environmental sample; and selecting an antibiotic production-related gene-derived mRNA comprised in the extracted RNA by meta-transcriptome analysis. According to the invention, besides microorganisms which is difficult to culture, exploration of antibiotics produced by microorganisms which are not known until now can be achieved.
