PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp driving device that can increase a variation in temperature of an electrode.SOLUTION: One aspect of a discharge lamp driving device of the present invention includes a discharge lamp driving part that supplies a discharge lamp with a driving current driving the discharge lamp, and a control part that controls the discharge lamp driving part. The control part controls the discharge lamp driving part in order to provide a driving period including: a mixed period alternately including an AC period during which an AC current is supplied to the discharge lamp and a first DC period during which a DC current is supplied to the discharge lamp; a second DC period, which is provided immediately after the mixed period, during which a DC current having the same polarity as that of the DC current in the first DC period is supplied to the discharge lamp; and a third DC period, which is provided immediately after the second DC period, during which a DC current having the reverse polarity to that of the DC current in the second DC period is supplied to the discharge lamp; the control being performed by making the duration of the second DC period longer than the duration of the first DC period, and making the duration of the third DC period longer than the duration of the first DC period and shorter than the duration of the second DC period. |
