FIELD: physics, computer engineering.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a receiving device and a receiving method capable of controlling operation of a given application in relation to the progress of audiovisual (AV) content, such as a television program. A trigger signal retrieving unit retrieves trigger signal information with respect to the control of the application, performed either by the receiving device as such, or by an external device connected to the receiving device in relation to the AV content, wherein the trigger signal information is transmitted along with the AV content. If the retrieved trigger signal information indicates a command addressed to the receiving device as such, the device control unit as such controls operation of the application in accordance with the command indicate by the trigger signal information. If the command indicated by the retrieved trigger signal information is addressed to an external device, the processing unit of the external device outputs a command indicating the trigger signal information to the external device.EFFECT: controlling operation of an external device connected to a receiving device in relation to AV content processing.10 cl, 21 dwg |
