Disclosed is a contact lens cleaning system (150) with a contact lens holder and a vial (3) adapted to contain the contact lens holder, a cleaning solution (120) and a catalyst capable of neutralizing the cleaning solution (120). A sensor provides data on a rate of neutralization of the cleaning solution (120) and a processing device in communication with the sensor receives the rate of neutralization data from the sensor. A display is in communication with the processing device and provides cleaning efficacy information based on the rate of neutralization data.
