The present relates to a method for controlling a mobile terminal which includes the steps of: running a battery checking application; synchronizing a voltage profile with a voltage profile of a normal battery based on a state of charge (SOC) of a battery to be checked; charging or discharging the battery to be checked depending on the remaining capacity of the battery to be checked; and detecting a voltage profile of the battery to be checked, when the battery is charged or discharged, and determining battery life of the battery to be checked by using the detected voltage profile and a voltage profile of an abnormal battery.
