<p>Disclosed is a vent for a mask; a mask and a vent arrangement for a mask. Mask vents are used for non-invasive positive pressure ventilation (NIPPV) and continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) when treating conditions such as sleep disordered breathing (SDB). Noise and air jetting are problems associated with CPAP treatment, as excessive noise and high velocity jet streams of exhaust gases can lead to patient frustration reducing the likelihood of the patient being compliant in using the therapy. The vent comprises a first wall (113) with a top face (121); second wall (114) with an outer edge defining a perimeter; a plurality of supports (118) and at least one gas washout vent hole (116). The supports (118) are disposed between the first wall (113) and the second wall (114). The at least one gas washout vent hole (116) is positioned between the supports (118). The supports (118) and vent hole (116) are positioned relative to the first wall (113) and the second wall (114) to reduce noise and to prevent moisture forming in the vent (106) during gas washout.</p> |
