<p>A cattle ear tag, includes a female tag portion 2 and a male tag portion 3 having an elongated stem portion 6 adapted to create a gap between the male and female tag portions when engaged, the gap at least equal to a thickness of a thicker portion of the cattle’s ear adjacent an animal’s head after applying the male tag portion through that thicker portion. A flexible connecting portion 4 connects the female tag portion and the male tag portion and is adapted for wrapping around a leading edge of the animal’s ear when the tag is applied. The female tag portion includes an RFID component enclosed within a tamper-proof soft boss 7 in an overmoulded button assembly. The tamper-proof soft boss includes flexible fingers 10 controlling entry of the male tag portion into a chamber defined by the tamper-proof soft boss and a hard insert 9 which is positioned the end of the tamper-proof soft boss distal from the end into which the male tag portion is received.</p> |
