Thiadiazolidinediones as gsk-3 inhibitors

Provided are thiadiazolidinedione compounds of general formula (I), wherein the variables are as defined in the specification. Examples of the compounds include 2-benzyl-4-ethyl-[1,2,4]thiadiazolidine-3,5-dione and 2-benzyl-4-(2-hydroxy-ethyl)-[1,2,4]thiadiazolidine-3,5-dione. The compounds are inhibitors of glycogen synthase kinase 3 (GSK-3). The compounds may be useful in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases and cardiovascular disorders.
