<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chip resistor that can surely protect a resistor even when a larger overvoltage is applied.SOLUTION: A chip resistor has terminal electrode portions 2a, 3a in which a pair of surface electrodes 2, 3 provided to the surface of an insulating substrate 1 are connected to the end portion of a resistor 4, and gap electrode portions 2b, 3b whose inter-electrode distance is smaller than that of the terminal electrode portions 2a, 3a. The gap electrode portions 2b, 3b and the resistor 4 are arranged side by side on the flat surface of the insulating substrate 1 so as to be spaced from one another at a predetermined interval. With this construction, a voltage discharged between the electrodes of the gap electrode portions 2b, 3b is stabilized, and the resistor 4 can be surely protected from overvoltage even when the resistance value of the resistor 4 is low.</p> |
