A component mounting head is configured so as to comprise: (A) a first raising and lowering device (18 and 82), which raises and lowers a nozzle retainer (14), which holds a suction nozzle (22), relative to a head main unit (12); (B) a second raising and lowering device (58 and 80), which raises and lowers the suction nozzle relative to the nozzle retainer; (C) an acting force detector (106), which detects acting force in the vertical direction acting on the suction nozzle; and (D) a control device (110), which controls operation of the second raising and lowering device on the basis of the acting force detected by the acting force detector so that a force that has been set for a component is applied when mounting the component. A first air passage (62, 64, and 66) provided in the nozzle retainer and a second air passage (68) provided in the suction nozzle communicate at mutual sliding surfaces (38 and 40) for the nozzle retainer and the suction nozzle. Intake and exhaust of air for the suction nozzle is performed at the sliding surfaces, and therefore, variation in acting force caused by release of negative pressure supplied to the suction nozzle is insignificant so that, when mounting a component, it is possible to properly control force applied to the component. |
