<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus with small size and light weight which provides a satisfactory image with reduced flare or ghosts. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is constituted of a combination of: an image display element for displaying an image; a relay optical system for forming an intermediate image of an original image of the image display element; and an eyepiece optical system for projecting the intermediate image as a virtual image. The constituent optical surface includes an eccentric surface shifted or tilted to an axial principal ray, and is provided with an observation optical system for projecting an original image of the image display element on eyeballs of an observer, and a shielding part for shielding a part of peripheral luminous flux of the image display element. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
