<p>An electrochromic display device (10) includes a display substrate (11), a counter substrate (12) facing the display substrate (11), counter electrodes (12a) formed on the counter substrate (12), at least first and second display electrodes (11a,11b) arranged between the display substrate (11) and the counter electrodes (12a), the first display electrode (11a) and the second display electrode (11b) having a predetermined distance from each other, a first electrochromic layer (13a) arranged on the first display electrode (11a) and a second electrochromic layer (13b) arranged on the second display electrode (11b), an electrolyte layer (16) arranged between the respective first and the second display electrodes (11a,11b) and the counter electrodes (12a), and a protective layer (15a or 15b) made of an insulator material formed on the counter electrode (12a) facing side surface of one of the first and the second display electrodes (11a,11b) such that the protective layer (15a or 15b) is sandwiched between the selected one of the first and the second display electrodes (11a,11b) and a corresponding one of the first and the second electrochromic layers (13a,13b).</p> |
