PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an equipment information collection system and an equipment information collection method, capable of reducing security risks and easily managing information equipment.SOLUTION: A collection server 1 comprises: a timing management unit 12 which manages the timings of collecting information of the information equipment connected to a first local communication device 4; an instruction unit 13 which transmits connection instruction information for instructing the connection between a center communication device 3 and a first local communication device 4 by a VPN to the center communication device 3 at the timing instructed by the timing management unit 12; and a collection unit 14 which collects information indicating a state of the information equipment connected to the first local communication device 4 via the center communication device 3. The center communication device 3 includes a center communication unit 33 which connects the center communication device 3 and the first local communication device 4 by the VPN on the basis of first center setting information used for the VPN connection when receiving the connection instruction information. The first local communication device 4 includes a local communication unit 43 which relays the data transmitted and received between a plurality of information equipment 5 communicably connected with each other and the center communication device 3.
