PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous emulsion that can form a coating film having sufficient film formability and coating film characteristics and, particularly, can form a coating film excellent in adhesion to an exterior wall of a building and a ceramic-based siding board.SOLUTION: The aqueous emulsion includes an aqueous polymer particle having a core-shell structure. The aqueous emulsion is composed of: an aqueous polymer particle having a core-shell structure of a shell layer comprising an aqueous polymer A including (a1) an ethylenically unsaturated monomer containing no carboxyl group and (a2) an ethylenically unsaturated monomer containing a carboxyl group, having a carboxyl group derived from the monomer (a2) neutralized, having a predetermined Tg and having a predetermined weight average molecular weight; and a core layer comprising an aqueous polymer B including (b1) an ethylenically unsaturated monomer containing no carboxyl group and having a predetermined Tg so as to satisfy a mass ratio of the polymer A and the polymer B of 0.5/99.5 to 99.5/0.5, (1) Tg of the polymer B≥Tg of the polymer A, and (2) Tg of the particle≥MFT of the particle.
