PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drug containing an active ingredient having a novel functionality except to stop hiccups or antibacterial activity, in a calyx part of persimmon which is usually destroyed, in order to aim at effective utilization of persimmon, and to provide an extraction method of the active ingredient.SOLUTION: The invention provide a blood sugar level elevation inhibitor and an agent for suppressing blood pressure elevation which contain alcohol extract from persimmon calyx as an active ingredient, and an extraction method of persimmon calyx comprising an extraction step of contacting persimmon calyx with alcohol to extract an active ingredient.
