A transmission signal processing apparatus and a transmission signal processing method according to an embodiment of the invention expand the use range of a system capable of transmitting/receiving ultra-high definition image data, and enables programs to be viewed in various forms and styles. According to the embodiment, an encoding device encodes each of multiple pieces of image data obtained by capturing images within the same space by use of multiple cameras located at respective different places. A stream generation device processes the multiple pieces of encoded image data, thereby generating respective streams thereof. A resolution setting device determines resolutions of the respective pieces of image data in the respective streams. A stream selection device selects, within an allowable range of transmission capability, one or more streams from the multiple streams. A stream combination device combines the selected stream or streams with a stream carrying a control signal into a single stream and outputs this combined stream. |
