a wearable appliance monitoring one or more body parameters, the appliance including an accelerometer and one or more additional sensors to detect movement or vital sign, wherein the accelerometer detects patient movement and wherein another sensor detects body rotation or height from a floor; and a telephone wirelessly coupled to the wearable appliance, wherein the telephone comprises either a cellular telephone or a landline telephone coupled to a plain old telephone service line.
