Disclosed are a communication method and an IP telephone terminal. The method comprises: a first user equipment receiving a conference creation instruction input by a user; creating a conference interface on a liquid crystal display (LCD) interface of the first user equipment according to the conference creation instruction; acquiring contact information, and displaying the contact information on a programmable button interface of the first user equipment; receiving a selection instruction input by the user by using the programmable button interface; and sending an invite message to a second user equipment according to the selection instruction by using the server, so as to invite the second user equipment to join a conference, the second user equipment being a user equipment corresponding to a contact selected by the user on the programmable button interface by using the selection instruction.
