A method of assembling a blower, including: providing a housing (110) including a handle portion (144), providing a blower tube (150) below the handle portion (144), providing a motor (120) in a motor sleeve (200), providing a fan assembly (160) operably coupled to the motor (120) to force air through the blower tube (150) responsive to operation of the motor (120), providing control circuitry (130) in a portion of the housing (110) to selectively apply power to the motor (120) for operation of the motor (120), and providing a battery (140) rearward of the handle portion. The motor sleeve (200) includes a motor attachment plane (204) at which the motor (120) is affixed to the motor sleeve (200). The motor (120) turns a shaft (206) that extends through the motor attachment plane (204) in an upstream direction. The shaft (206) is operably coupled to a rotor hub (240) upstream of the motor attachment plane (204). The blower assembled with this method.
