<p>A lever 3 mounted float 9 operated liquid control valve particularly suited for use with animal watering troughs that are typically sited some considerable distance from their water source. The valve incorporates an outlet 8 adapted, such as by groove 8b, to have a detachable 5 conduit coupling connected thereto enabling temporary branches or "take-offs" to be connected thereto. The outlet 8 is preferably designed to enable coupling with an "over centre" cam coupling and is preferably in the nature of a removable cap. In addition locking means 2 are provided enabling the valve to be maintained in a closed mode while the coupling is connected to and disconnected from the valve. The valve is preferably of a type wherein a 10 float lever 3 thereof impinges with a bridging section 5c of an opening and closing plunger 5 mounted in an associated cylinder of the valve. Further characterizing the invention the bridging section 5c is set-back from the side of the plunger 5 associated with the lever 3. This enables, with removal of the outlet cap 8, the plunger 5 to be displaced sufficiently to provide clearance between the plunger 5 and the lever 3 enabling removal of the plunger 5 without 15 disconnecting the lever 3 from the valve body 1.
