Various embodiments enable a video messaging experience which permits the exchange of short video messages in an asynchronous manner. The video messaging experience preserves the video intimacy and experience of synchronous-type video communications, while at the same time provides the convenience of SMS-type message exchange. In particular, a method of playing a video on a display of a computer device is disclosed, wherein the computer device is configured to access storage means holding at least one video message conversation including at least first and second video messages each comprising a video of maximum permitted length, the method comprising: receiving at a video player selection (900) of the first video message associated with the video message conversation; initiating playback (902) by the video player of the first video message; and on termination of playback of the first video message automatically playing back (904) at least the second video message associated with the video message conversation, without receiving a user selection of the second video message.
