<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately determine that it is necessary to replace a waste ink tank soon or now by the use of a single detection unit. <P>SOLUTION: A detection electrode that comes in contact with ink when the ink exceeds a first ink amount less than the full amount is provided in the waste ink tank 70.
