PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a desired density with a less amount of toner and provide toner images with good image uniformity and high density.SOLUTION: A developing device includes a toner carrier 22 that carries a toner to be supplied to an image carrier 1 on which an electrostatic image is formed, a developer supply member 24 that supplies a developer 10 to the toner carrier, and a developer recovery member 23 that recovers the developer supplied to the toner carrier. The toner carrier includes a surface layer face having a plurality of protrusions 221c extending in a direction intersecting a developer conveyance direction; the opening width in the developer conveyance direction between the adjacent protrusions is equal to or more than the particle diameter of the toner and less than the particle diameter of a carrier; the height of the protrusions is equal to or less than the particle diameter of the toner 11; in a developing unit in which the toner carrier and image carrier are arranged opposite to each other to develop an electrostatic image, the toner carrier and image carrier can move while having a relative speed difference. |
