The invention relates to a closure device for closing a passage opening (O) on a vehicle, where an inner chamber (I) comprising a filling or connection opening is accessible via said passage opening (O), and this passage opening (O) can be closed by a cover element (1) which can be adjusted on the vehicle, actuated by external forces, between at least one closure position to close the passage opening (O) and one release position to release the passage opening (O). An electronic control system for triggering adjustment of the cover element (1) is provided comprising at least one sensor device (S1, S2; S1*, S2*; 5, 6). According to one aspect of the invention, at least one first and one second sensor device (S1, S2; S1*, S2*; 5, 6) are provided, an operational event for opening the cover element (1) being detectable by means of the first sensor device (S1, S1*, 5) and an operational event for closing the cover element (1) being detectable by means of a second sensor device (S2, S2*, 6) which is spaced apart from said first sensor device (S1, S1*, 5). The sensor devices (S1, S2; S1*, S2*; 5, 6) are thus provided, at least in parts, on different sections (10; 11, 14) of said cover element (1).
