<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which, even if a volume of outside light is large or high-density background color exists at an end of a document, is capable of accurately recognizing a document region. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus, which reads image data by scanning a document placed on a platen glass while moving a scanner in a sub scanning direction, acquires normal image data by forward scanning where the light source of the scanner is set to a normal light volume, and acquires image data for comparison by reverse scanning where the light source of the scanner is set to a light volume for comparison different from the normal light volume. A document region determination unit compares the pixel density of the normal image data with that of the image data for comparison for each pixel and identifies a region in which the difference between the pixel densities is larger than a preset threshold, as a document region. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
